No, CAT is the only option to get admission in IIM, CMAT is not acceptable there. -
It is not just compulsory. It is a must do thing if you want get an admission in IIMs and that too you have to score above 99% percentile in CAT to get a place in IIMs. -
The IIMS only consider CAT EXAM. You need to qualify it and look up for your percentile. After that, you will get call from the various IIMS. Select according to your liking.

For full time 2 years MBA in IIM, you need CAT, but there is another way to be part of IIM. Few reputed or MNC companies want their employs to do MBA. So, they will offer you to do MBA in IIM or any other top institute for 1 year programme only in specific field as the company required field. So, this is another way to get in to IIM. For this process, you need to be very important person for that company. -
