Lovely Professional University is a recognised private university established under the Punjab State Act and is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Being a university, it does not require direct approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) as AICTE mainly governs technical institutions affiliated with universities, not universities themselves. However, LPU follows AICTE guidelines for its technical and professional programs, ensuring that the curriculum, infrastructure, and teaching standards meet national benchmarks. This recognition allows students to pursue higher education, apply for governmen
Is LPU an AICTE approved university?

Accreditation and approvals play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and recognition of higher education institutions. While many technical programs in India seek approval from regulatory bodies like the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to maintain standards in curriculum, faculty, and infrastructure, it is important to note that universities established by an act of Parliament or State Legislature are not legally required to obtain AICTE approval to offer technical courses. This has been clarified by the Hon'ble Supreme Court in judgments such as Bharathidasan University & Anr. vs All India Council for Technical Ed

Dear reader,
A state act created Lovely Professional University (LPU), a university recognised by the UGC. Therefore, it does not need general AICTE approval to conduct its regular technical courses in accordance with the legislation and a Supreme Court decision. The University is able to provide these programs because of its position under the UGC. Notably, in addition to being recognised by UGC-DEB, its online/distance learning MBA and MCA programs have received special approval from AICTE.
For more information kindly contact their concerned department.
I hope this informatoin helps.

Lovely Professional University (LPU) is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is a private university established by a state act. Because of this, it is not required to have separate AICTE approval to run its technical / professional courses.
According to the law and relevant Supreme Court rulings (e.g., Bharathidasan University vs. AICTE), universities established under a state act and approved by UGC don't need AICTE's prior approval to run engineering or technical courses.

Bro, LPU ek UGC recognized university hai aur AICTE se separately approval lene ki zarurat nahi hoti kyunki universities ko UGC hi regulate karti hai, lekin jo professional programs jaise B.Tech, MBA, Pharmacy, Architecture hote hain un sabhi ko respective councils se approval milta hai matlab agar tu engineering karega toh AICTE norms ke according hi hoga, agar pharmacy karega toh PCI approved hoga, aur architecture COA se approved hai, so tension lene ki zarurat hi nahi hai, sab legal aur recognised hai.

Hi Sudipto, LPU is not AICTE approved because it does not need the approval. LPU is an independent UGC recognised university. AICTE approval is not required for a university to run a course in technical education as has been held by the Hon'ble Supreme Court in its judgment CWP2056 of 1999 titled Bharathidasan University & ANR. V/S ALL INDIA COUNCIL FOR TECHNICAL EDUCATION & ORS, and various other cases. If any college is already approved by UGC, then approval from AICTE is not necessary.

Lovely Professional University (LPU) is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and, as a full university established under a State Act, it does not require separate AICTE approval for its on-campus degree programs. For certain online and distance programs, LPU has AICTE approval. Overall, LPU is best, offering recognised and credible programs with strong infrastructure and industry exposure.

LPU does not require an AICTE approval since it is already approved by UGC, a statutory body of the Government of India. This is because universities do not require AICTE approval compulsorily. LPU offers 200+ programme and in all three mode of education regular, online and distance mode.

Dear Sudipto, LPU is not approved by AICTE. To the best of my knowledge, a university doesn't need AICTE approval to run any technical programme if already recognised by UGC. Well, Lovely Professional University is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC), a statutory body of the Government of India for the coordination, determination and maintenance of standards of university education in India, under section 2 (f) of the UGC Act, 1956. AICTE approval is not required for a university to run a course in technical education as has been held by the Hon'ble Supreme Court in its judgment CWP2056 of 1999 titled BHARATHIDASAN UN...more
