Hi Ranjiv,
This question can only be answered by the university officials for which you wish to apply for. Some of the institutes allow you to join for programs in between a year however, some don't. It's totally on the discretion of the university.

Sorry, I have never heard about Nirma University. But, I will give my opinion about Sastra University. Sastra University is a world class institutions at par with the best private institutions of India. In Tamil Nadu, it is one of the top 5 colleges. Plenty of research opportunities and placements are available. Culture of Sastra University is very good, as people of various states study here.

B.Sc is more about theory and B.Tech is all about the practical applications of the physics, chemistry and mathematics. B.Sc graduates go for teaching, research, and preparation for government jobs, whereas B.Tech graduates get jobs in MNCs and can always do same as the B.Sc graduates. If you have interest in practical applications you can opt of engineering and if you like to study theory then you can opt for B.Sc.

Airmen are basically the pilots or those who accompany them. Since it's in the flying branch you need to pursue Science in HS with maths and physics. Min is 50% in higher levels. Also you can get into it through NCC - C - certificate or NDA but you need to have a better performance. Age limit is 16-22 years. Good luck!
