Minimum & maximum package is referred to the salary offered by campus placement company to the selected students. Generally, one single company does not offer varying package to different candidates, it declares a common package for all. But package differs company to company. For example TCS declares Rs. 3 Lac, smaller companies like VACS offers Rs. 2.4 Lac, Nyara technologies offer Rs. 1.8 Lac. Obviously TCS will be called first by the college. It may select 20% eligible candidates and go. Next VACS comes, it is smaller and it also knows that best students were already selected by TCS so they offer lower package of Rs.2.4 Lac. And likewise package keeps on reducing.
Now through this process, by calling 10-15 companies, a good college ensures that majority of their eligible students get campus placement. Min/Max package rises college to college in terms of NBA accreditation, whether govt or private, NIT, IIT, IIM.
