Hi Yash, -Starting by understanding the syllabus and the concepts of each section. -Once you are thorough will the syllabus, practice with mock tests, and identify your strengths as well as weak areas. -Be consistent with your stronger portions and keep working on your loose ends too. -If a particular topic is out of your understanding, don't waste much time on that. Rather try to improve the sections you are performing on average. -No student ever tries to attempt the whole exam. Both CSE and ECE are good options but it is better to opt CSE only if you are really interested in Software field because after completing B.Tech in ECE or in any other branch you can easily come to software field but you cannot enter any other core departments if you are a CSE graduate. Since you want to do M.Tech in Nuclear Engineering my suggestion is to opt ECE because it provides practical learning and lets you be prepared for your Masters.
