Biotechnology, being an interdisciplinary subject with diverse areas of study, its procedures apply themselves to a wide range of fields. Some of the fields of specialization are Molecular Biology; Microbiology; Biochemistry; Biophysics; Botany and so on. And as far as employment is concerned, it has become the second fastest growing sector after multi-media. With a postgraduate degree in biotechnology you can get absorbed in corporate and government sector, both. Qualified biotechnologists are employed in leading Indian business houses and MNCs including pharmaceutical companies, chemical industries, bioprocessing industries, agriculture related industries and pollution control activities of the major industries etc. You can even join government and corporate run research and development organizations.
Where as if you specialize in microbiology you can find jobs in many places like research and development laboratories of government and private hospitals, research organisations, pharmaceutical, food, beverage and chemical industries. Being closely related to biotechnology, there are many similarities between them, making microbiology also a very promising career option. A steep rise in employment avenues for microbiologists is envisaged as a result of growing numbers of above. Hence there are a number of options in both these fields. But you may take up the one, which interests you more. Value both options and the take the decision in the best of your interest.

There are a lot of openings for you after B.Sc Physics. You can opt for M.Sc Physics, Astrophysics : - This sector has many job opportunities you may join M.sc. Astrophysics in any university or if you want to see yourself as a scientist/Researcher you can proceed with M.Sc. in Applied Physics, and then go for PHD.

There are many options available to you depending on your interests, core strengths and chosen career path. Other than the conventional courses, you could explore courses in management, teaching, research, finance/banking, media, corporate communications, retail, hospitality etc. Postgraduate diplomas in specialized areas like leather, sugar, plastics, processing, packaging or environment technology are some other options you could look at. You can also take the Civil Services as well as the Indian Forest Service Exams with physics as one of the papers in the Mains examination.

Thakur, There are several careers in media in writing, production or post production. you can become a reporter, actor or getting behind the camera to direct, cinematograph or do finishing work as an editor, compositor or a VFX artist who can add reality to 3D vizualizations. you may even be a graphic artist who designs the screens, or an animator who brings stories to life as a proxy actor for onscreen characters. you can get into production, whether live or animated. You can be a story writer who writes for live and animated screens or even roll the story into a video/ pc game. you can be a script writer who would stop at nothing to give wonderful scene setups to bring the story to life. you could be an artist who designs characters or who storyboards the film for live or animated performance. you can also double up as a voice over artist who gives his/ her voice to the characters or dub for movie stars, or even be a radio star. you can alternatively look at web for a web of careers in web design, online marketing, search engine optimization, content writing, social media promoting. Any extra skill can be used in this. So it turns out to be one of the most challenging as well as satisfying careers. Sure not recommended for the weak hearted. Do remember that digital design careers (e.g. web design, graphics, UI design, animation, vfx, multimedia) give better profits since they can be delivered anywhere in the world & hence may earn in dollars - resulting in better rewards for designers.
