You can directly go for articles, and therefore take IPCC after a period of 9 months, so that there is no need to give CPT. But, you should have strong subject knowledge for this, as you have not cleared IPCC group 1.

He should focus on basics and practice more and more.
Before clearing an entrance exam all the branches have same criteria.
It may vary college to college due to their facility and infrastructure.
If he wants to join ece just tell him to focus on practice and fallow what teacher is saying in his classes.
That will be sufficient no need to worry.
In case if will not get ece he can change his branch to ece after end of first semester.
Because first year in engineering have common subjects.

Hi Oviya,
To get through any IIM, you need to appear for CAT. Only if you score distinctively high i.e. around 96 percentile (depends on year on year) you might stand a chance to get a call from them. Aim to score 98-99 percentile. Also, they would check your academics throughout and you need to meet up to their criteria to get through the interview and GD rounds. Start studying hard and smart and appear as many Mocks as you can. Also refer to various authors and apply for test series at different places. As they say the more, the merrier. Good Luck Mate.
