If you are from a reserved category (SC/ST/OBC), you have a good chance of getting into a government college. Most government colleges end at 10,000, so to get a government college and a good stream, you should try to get a rank below 5,000. 

Here are some other tips for getting into a government college: 

Focus on your preparation and try to score a decent rank within 3,000 (general)

Seats in all Government and Government Sponsored Polytechnics are reserved for candidates of Land Looser Category and have valid JEXPO rank
