A student who has completed 3 year recognised polytechnic diploma from a polytechnic college can seek lateral entry admissions after clearing lateral entry admission test conducted by the state, to a B Tech programme without attending classes or appearing for all examinations for first year of a B Tech programme. But that does not mean that a polytechnic diploma is equivalent to first year of a B Tech programme.
