You have to be up to date with all sorts of news and you must know different aspects of media. Those you can do by your own. Take help from the internet.

SASTRA University, Thanjavur is better than UPES, Dehradun. SASTRA University is also ranked one among the top private universities in India. It is also better for placements and many international companies like Microsoft, come for placements every year.
It is also less expensive than UPES Dehradun.
So, you can prefer SASTRA University. The last date to apply is June 10th and you can apply at www.sastra.edu.

Both are the better branches in engineering. But in recent times computer science engineering has dominated the other branches in terms of job opportunities.
So I prefer computer science engineering to electrical engineering. It has good scope in future so opt for CSE.
You can do electrical engineering but only in atop college because only then you can get a core company. EEE graduates can do jobs only in their core sectors in a most efficient way. If you don't want CSE, then you can do ECE (electronics and communication engineering).
