Marine engineering is a division of engineering that deals with the nautical architecture and science. Marine engineering basically is meant for research conducted in oceans and coastal or inland waters connected to the sea.
There are a number of job opportunities for marine engineers in India as well as in abroad. Some of the institutions like International Maritime Academy recruit marine engineers to the post of junior engineers in merchant ships. Once a candidate has successfully completed a required period of service as junior engineer, he/she is allowed to write competency exams by which they get promoted to the post of chief engineer. That is within a period of 5 or 6 years from the time of completion of graduation, a candidate can be in the post of chief engineer and hence can get an attractive pay scale. Hi Kartik, Procedure to become IAS officer after 12th is given below.
Candidates who wish to become an IAS officer have to appear and clear the Exam conducted by UPSC. Discussed below is the step by step process to become IAS officer after 10+2.
Step 1: Obtain any Bachelor Degree
After 10+2, candidates who wish to become IAS officer are required to obtain graduation in any discipline from a UGC recognized university. Bachelor degree is the minimum qualification required to apply for the civil service. There is NO MINIMUM PERCENTAGE required to be eligible to this exam. Final year candidates are also eligible to apply for this exam.
Step 2: The all India combined competitive examination for Civil Service comprises of two stages. They are
a) Preliminary Examination
B) Main Examination
Preliminary examination is usually conducted in the month of May/ June every year. This exam will be in objective type format. The exam consists of two papers, general studies and an optional subject. There will be questions for 150 marks from general section and 300 marks from optional subject. Candidates can choose their optional subject from the list given below.

Personal Interview
