Hi,
As per your profile pursuing Phd would be the best option for you, as it will further enhance your career prospects.
The eligibility criteria for Ph.D varies for every institute. However the basic requirement is a Masters degree or an equivalent degree in the relevant discipline. However the cut off percentages vary. Some of the institutes conduct entrance exams and some of them require atleast two Research Publications for the Ph.D programs. Some also require work experience of a couple of years.
Feel free to discuss more.
All the Best.

Thanx @NSJ. Yes it is possible. I have a colleague who has electrical degree but followed it up with M.tech in computer science. But there may be some hurdle, for example, if all seats are subscribed by CS candidates then your chances may not be there. Therefore, I suggest you to go for your plans and appear in GATE in CS, rest you don't worry too much about this issue.
