Stage 1: Telephone interviews of eligible candidates.
Stage 2: The Shortlisted candidates appear for MICAs FPM Admission Test. The FPM Admission Test is a three-day process organised on the MICA campus, comprising of the Written Test (WT), a Group Discussion (GD), an Individual Presentation (IP) and a Personal Interview (PI).
Candidates appearing for the admission test will be provided lodging and boarding at the MICA campus.
Day 1:
Written Test (WT)
The Written Test will examine the candidate's (communication) theoretical understanding, the ability to investigate a communication phenomenon and the ability to interpret data and draw conclusions.
The WT will be descriptive in nature and is based on prescribed readings. Candidates shortlisted after the telephonic interviews will be sent the prescribed readings via email. They are required to read them critically. Candidates may bring copies of the readings to the WT as this is an open-book exam.
Group Discussion (GD)
The Group Discussion will include a group of 6-8 candidates who will be given a GD topic on the spot. The group will be allowed to deliberate and reflect on the topic for the first 15 minutes, followed by a 30 minute discussion. The GD process will be evaluated by a panel of experts.
Day 2/3:
Individual Presentation (IP)
The candidate will be given a presentation topic on the spot. S/he will be given 90 minutes to prepare and 15 minutes to present to a panel of experts. Candidates will be required to make PowerPoint (PPT) presentations. A computer will be allotted to each candidate for creating PPT. Candidates may bring their own laptops as well. However, each candidate will be required to bring a USB flash drive.
Personal Interview (PI)
The Personal Interview will follow the IP, where a panel of experts will assess the candidate's personality and passion for research.
Detailed test structure and timings will be sent to the candidates shortlisted for the FPM Admission Test.
Selection to the Programme is based on:

Spain: They have not just a lot history in architecture, but their contemporary architects are top of the tops. Their offices and schools are very technichal, very focused in the building process. I would recommend it if you want to learn about building.
England: They have some of the top schools, probably more than any other country. The Architectural Association is probably the school the the most renowned graduates (from Rem Koolhaas to Richard Rogers). Very futuristic. The Bartlett School of Design is also a very progressive school, it was directed by Peter Cool.
Japan: their school is very clean, clear, simple and competitive. I think their style of design is perfectly aligned for the technology and construction methods of their country. I don't think their philosophy, working ethics and design philosophy could work 100% in other countries, but that's precisely the power of their work.
Netherlands: Very radicals. Focused on innovation, fragmentation, information, data, program (or lack of program). Very funky schools. They also understand the landscape like no one else in the world. Probably this would be my personal choice to study a graduate program.
US: Even though the US is the country with the most prestigious universities in the world, I don't think their architectural faculties or practices are that innovative. Some of they are, but I think architecture in the US is very traditional and not that innovative. There's the Science-Arch but it's too futuristic for me. Probably something in any, but other than that, I wouldn't take the time to study architecture in the us.
Germany: Very technical.
