Although, there is no set cutoff to get into top Institutes through CAT entrance Examination, but the more you score the brighter the chances to get into Top B-Schools. Generally the cutoffs go as high as 99.8%

AS discussed earlier you need really high percentage to get into top B-Schools. Not only this all the good B-Schools looking for students who are all rounder, so apart from CAT they also look at things like academic score, extra curriculur activities, GD/PI performance, some Institutes also give weightage to work experience.
One more thing which I would like to add here is that you need to have a graduate degree through a recognised University with 50% and above in aggregate.

In most of the Universities you get certain number of chances (2-3 I suppose) after which you can neither reappear nor go for the next semester. However, as every University has a seperate system you need to check with your University (PTU) whether you can go for next Semester or not.
