Although, both the Universities are highly reputed if we talk about state level ranking, however, if we go by popular Engineering ranking Jadavpur University has a much higher rank.
I would like to add here that while choosing the University few of the things which you should keep in mind are: First and foremost the recognition of the Institute (the institute must be recognized by UGC or AICTE), Secondly, the course curriculum and the study material, the infrastructure, the faculty(their educational background), the placement, last but not least Institutes reputation in the job market for which you should visit the institu

I would agree with Mr. Deshmukh, the most important thing you should keep in mind while choosing your career path is your own interests and career aspirations. As far as Salary and the scope of the programme is concerned both Physics and Engineering are entirely different fields. Physics can take you in fields which are more research based and need a lot more detailed study like Astrophysics, Astronomy, nuclear physics, Environmental Sciences etc. whereas Engineering will take you to the technology driven career.
I would like to add here that if you are B.Sc graduate you would not find many Institute giving M.Sc Engineering prog
