So, it's better to start off with them, so you can clear your doubts and queries with them on timely basis and it'll not clutter up. The languages you'll study in BCA doesn't require a high-end computer or laptop. You'll study languages like C, C+, Java and few others depending on the university. All these languages can operate on a system with minimal requirements on 1GB RAM, 100GB HDD too. I'd highly recommend you to go for a laptop with at least 8GB RAM, i7 8th gen processor & 1TB HDD. The reason is that if in case in future you do some development courses like Android Development, Game Development or any other software development. These processes requires a high-end machine for smooth functioning. I know this kind of machine will require a good budget but it'll worth it and definitely save your time in future. Personally, I had bought a 4GB RAM, i3 3gen processor laptop during my BCA which was really very slow, when I started working on Android Development. I had to reinvest my money to get a new laptop with higher specifications. Also, go for a laptop rather than a computer, so you can work according to your time and not get affected from power cut-offs. I am using a Lenovo laptop, and I am using it for 1012 hours a day for development purposes for past 3 years and it has performed really well, although the battery backup has been reduced from 3 hours to 1 hour but otherwise it never required any kind of service.

It is true that BCA does not hold that much value as compared to B.Tech CSE or IT. But, BCA is a course which is for commerce and arts stream students or even for Science stream students who didn't performed well in their +2 and wants to build a career in IT. It is also true that if you have a BCA degree and absolutely no or little knowledge in programming, you probably will not be securing any job offers. In BCA you have to put in your extra efforts in learning and mastering the skills in programming. Just having the degree will not yield much.
