Since I am working at senior postion in an industry since long, Let me share my views with you that MBA from Govt approved institutes (UGC approved) carry more weight, even in the prvate sector. So select the institute based on this aspect and not by the interesting advertisements they place everywhere. I would refrain naming institutes who have turned more "Filmy" than 'Educative" in the recent times.

Rohit, you are still a 1st year student. So I suggest you concentrate on your B.Tech at the moment and plan for UPSC exam when you come in the 4th year. Uptill then the best you can do regasrding being an IAS is to keep this flame burning in you and keep enhancing your general knowledge & information on current affairs.

Jake. Engineering and HR do make up a cocktail which would keep you on the floor rather than giving an undesirable 'High". So go ahead, HR is related to each profession and for an engineer it would add feather in your cap. Such mix of specializations generally help the people at a later stage in the career, not immediately. Remember this. So hold on to the knowledge and enhance your "Human" skills alongwith doing your "Technical skills (engineering work).

If you have completed your 12th, why are you thinking about a masters and PHD degree right now and inquiring about the details of the same? You should be thinking about your bachelors degree for now and thinking about the requisites of the same.
If you have pursued a bachelors degree already, please let me know so that we can take this discussion further.

Yes, MBA from Sikkim-Manipal University is good for getting placements. One needs to do a project in the 4th semester of this MBA. So you must choose the topic such that it adds to the benifits of your education in your project management job later. Since you have more than 3 years of experience you may take a lateral entry into the MBA program such that you can attempt 1st & 2nd semester simultaneously and give exam of 12 papers at the same time. It would save you 6 months o precious time and few thousands of ruppees.
