To pursue PhD you need to first prepare your research proposal and send it to the university. The research proposal must include a summary of the proposal and then the proposal in detail. You need to write the topic, reason for doing research, how the research will be beneficial to the community and the university, what is the different thing you are doing that hasn't been undertaken earlier. Also, include how you will progress during the research and the duration you might need to achieve the milestones you have set. In order to pursue MBA from US, you need to fullfill the below mentioned eligibility criteria:
16 years of education with good academic record preferably 60% plus in graduation.
Relevant undergraduate degree from recognized university.
Atleast 2-3 years of full time work experience after graduation.
GMAT score of 500-600 plus,
TOEFL score of 80-90 plus or IELTS score of 6-7 bands plus.
So it is always advisable to work for 2-3 years after completion of graduation and gain relevant work experience and then apply for MBA.

In this answer I emphasized more on photography but as I mentioned that Director of Photography is related to the person who manages the Camera be it still or video. I would like to say that even a cinematographer is often considered as a DOP. But this is not the case always as the director of photography is responsible for the look and feel of a piece on film.
