If you want to prepare for IFS then you need to practice the following things-
1. Newspaper Reading - while reading newspaper give special attention to topics such as International relations, Foreign policies of India and external affairs.
2. Body Language - acquire as much fluency as you can in English.

IET, Lucknow is far better than the UPES Dehradun as UPES is a private college and IET, Lucknow is a government college. UPES stands nowhere in the national ranking but IET does.

Please mention your specialization in Diploma in mechatronics. In general, it is a peculiar branch and a tough one to pursue.
And its not like mechatronics is just a combination of mechanical and ECE and bit electrical. You will have knowledge about all dis branches so job opportunity is more but its not a core branch. Not very sure of the placements from this branch but all i can say is if you look at at he placements perspective , rather can opt to go for General B.Sc in electronics as it is more easily available and placements chances are also high. Today electronics industry in India is on boon and many manufacturing indust
