You must be in good academic standing (i.e., eligible for registration or readmission) at the post-secondary institution in which you were previously enrolled - your home institution. If you were ineligible to continue in your program at your home institution but eligible to apply to another of its faculties or programs, you may be similarly eligible to apply to a faculty or program at Ryerson.
You must submit officially certified academic transcripts, including promotion/graduation status, of your secondary and all post-secondary studies directly to Undergraduate Admissions and Recruitment. If you are currently attending a post-secondary institution, you must also submit a list of courses in progress and their interim or final results, when available.
If you are applying for advanced standing admission, course descriptions and teaching outlines of all post-secondary studies are generally not required at the time of application for admission; if this information is needed, a request will be forwarded to you by Undergraduate Admissions and Recruitment. Course/teaching outlines may be required after admission has been granted when you are applying for transfer credit.
Students admitted with advanced standing/transfer credits must complete, as a Ryerson student, studies that normally include at least one half of the program's curriculum. No more than a total of 50 percent of the program's requirements may consist of advanced standing/credits (transfer credits, challenge credits, credits granted on a Letter of Permission).
When advanced standing is granted, all or some of your previous post-secondary studies are used as a basis of admission. The following conditions apply to courses used as basis of admission:
Courses are not recorded as individual transfer credits and may not be used to apply for transfer credit.
The original grades are not recorded as graded courses on your Ryerson academic record.
Courses are not used in the GPA calculation.
Transfer credits may be given for courses taken previously at accredited post-secondary institutions that were not used as part of the basis for admission. Transfer credits are assessed only for Ryerson program students. If you have not been approved to a degree, diploma or certificate program, you cannot apply for credits.
