Hi Harish,
Education is something which can be pursued at any point of time in ones life and will never be a disadvantage, so the gap is not a problem provided the institutes offering the courses do not require any upper age limit. Even though coming from distance education background a candidate can write NET exam but preference is given to regular students so I would advise you to pursue the regular courses to get better career opportunities i.e. Pursue M.Sc from regular mode instead of opting through the distance mode.
There are many good institutes/ universities from where you can pursue M.Sc courses, and to know about this you may

Hi Vijay,
It is advised not to pursue education through the distance courses as this lacks quality of education when compared to the regular courses, also there are not many institutes offering options where in you can pursue a diploma in engineering that too through the distance/ correspondence mode, yet you may refer to the following link to know about the institutes offering diploma in engineering courses:

You may further refine this search results according to the mode of study you require.

Hi Nishtha,
Being a diploma holder in Metallurgy you can definitely apply to the various MNCs directly based on your qualifications but then the preference is given mainly to those who are degree holders as compared to the diploma counterparts. yet you may directly apply to the companies or may upload your Resume on the various popular job sites like Naukri.com and others and may receive valid reposes directly from the companies. Other than this you can also look for pursuing a degree in engineering through Lateral entry on the basis of your 3 years engineering diploma program.
Kindly revert for any further queries, also if you liked thi
