You must keep your basic concepts clear of your computer science subjects. Mainly the subjects in the 3rd and 4th year are covered in GATE. But basic foundation starts from 1st. You can go through previous year's question papers to get a feel of toughness and difficulty of GATE. GATE is an easy exam to crack if you are through with subject knowledge and good in applying them.
