There are different ways you could choose to prepare for the CAT exams. You can prepare for CAT online as enough study materials are available on the internet. Be it the sample question papers or vocabulary exercise books you can come across a wide variety of options to choose from.
You can also buy CAT preparation books. Most of these books cover all the major portion of the CAT syllabus. Solved handbooks are also available. CAT preparation tips can be collected from the blogs written by students who have earlier appeared for the examination.
You can download model test papers as well as solved ones from the internet. The model test papers are framed following the pattern of questions set in the CAT exam. You can join a good CAT training center in your city which will train you on preparing for CAT in the right way.

There are 240 students in PGDM Core/General, and there are 3 other courses - International Business, Insurance Business Management and Retail Management - with 60 students each. Usually the average placement figures that are released, are done by considering all the courses, so roughly 420 students.
The fees is not more than 12 lakhs overall, this time they might have increased, but then the average figures of placement might also hike in accordance.
The thing is don't go by these figures and calculations, think of long term, where do you want to go 10 years down the line. If you are visualizing yourself as a Line Manager or Campaign Manager, then definitely PGDM/MBA from a decent institute is going to help, even-though you get the lowest package of 4.5 lpa here.
Also in the near future, the students who perform well do get packages of 7 to 9 lpa, without difficulty, from this particular institute, so it's not just the institute, it is how you perform after coming here too.

1. Software Development for civil engineering field requires knowledge of civil engineering, applied mathematics and programming. Programming may be in C or in some other language or simply with a mathematical tool. It depends upon the problem arising in engineering design. Mathematical tools like MATLAB, MathCAD, Mathematica, Tex, Latex, etc. or sometimes FORTRAN is utilized in various different aspects like writing, writing like a program, for analyzing, etc.
2. During studies you are required to learn the programming skills so as to model the problems related with engineering design. This is learnt as mandatory subject.
3. Programming in languages like C or I must say high level languages is always beneficial in numerically analysing the data. This is learnt by every engineering student as a subject of Numerical Techniques or Numerical Techniques & Computer Programming or simply Numerical Analysis. FORTRAN like languages are more suited in the problems when problems are fully mathematical in nature and you need to write them in a program and in a very easy manner. Commands in FORTRAN are easy that one can write them fast. That kind of programming is complicated in C.
4. Any high level language of today, is basically an advanced form of C and C has its origin in B (BASIC).
If you are going to study a diploma in civil engineering then you are going to study the programming too and C is obvious then.

Ideally after B.COM, you should go for higher studies like LLB, M.Com, CA or CRISIL Certified Analyst Program (CCAP) or in banking sector like Diploma in Banking & Financial Services(HDBFS).
But in case you have strong inclination towards IT field, you may go ahead with either if the two provided you fulfill the eligibility:-
M.SC IT: Commerce, Business Mathematics/Statistics as a main subject in +2
MCA: Candidates, with 60% marks (6.5/10 CGPA) in Bachelor's degree of Full Time 3 years duration from a recognized University with Mathematics / Statistics / Business Maths. as one of the subjects in any one semester/year, both in graduation and at 10+2 level are eligible.
However the criteria varies from one college to another. Few institutes conduct entrance exams too.
*MCA course can provide professional knowledge in programming languages like C, C+, and Java etc. It also offers diverse knowledge in the field of financial accounting and operation management.
*While MSc IT is a program wherein students are trained to perform well in computer applications and Software. This course aims to provide better knowledge in core subjects like operating systems, data structure and database applications.
Both of these courses have their own merits .Students interested to have a job in Software or in computer applications can choose to study MCA. Students who are interested in Database operations or Internet can go for MSc IT. Anyway both these courses can offer challenging jobs in the field of computers.
