Following is the salary structure of IFS officers according to the grade:
1. Junior Time Scale [Under Secretary]
Basic pay scale is Rs.8000 - 275 - 13,500
2. Senior Time Scale [Under Secretary]
Basic Pay Scale is Rs.10, 650 - 325 - 15, 850
3. Junior Administrative Grade [Deputy Secretary]
Basic pay scale is Rs.12, 750 - 375 - 16, 500
4. Selection Grade IV [Counselor Director]
Basic pay scale is Rs.15, 100 - 400 - 18, 300
5. Senior Administrative Grade [Joint Secretary]
Basic pay scale is Rs.18, 400 - 500 - 22, 400
6. Ambassador/ High Commissioner
Basic pay scale is Rs.26, 000 [Fixed]
The entry level basic salary for IFS officer is Rs.8, 000 per month. He is also entitled to dearness allowance, along with many other allowances which take his salary beyond Rs.50,000 per month.

At present, you can enter into the bank jobs by the following methods.
1. Through IBPS exam
IBPS is Institute of Banking Personnel Selection.
It is conducted 4 times in a year and the score card is valid for 1 year.
1. The eligibility criteria in graduation from recognized university and your age should be between 21-30 years.
2. You can apply in the private banks like ICICI, HDFC, CANARA, etc.
3. You have to apply separately for the SBI and associated banks of SBI- SBOP,SBOM,SBOH,SBJ, etc.
