No, to be eligible for degree course, it is mandatory to clear class 12th with minimum percentage from a recognized board. If you have compartment in future, you will face lots of issue in getting seats. It is better to clear the compartment, and then try for seats in IHM. There is no role of class 12th percentage for admission in NITs and IITs only a minimum of 75% is necessary. So, if you have got 75% in class 12th, then there is no need to drop for board instead of this you should focus on JEE Main and Advance exam.
