I would suggest either an Apple or android app.
Windows 8 hasn't caught on very fast.
If you do an Apple app, it will have to be approved by Apple and then
it will be on the App Store, the largest app store.
On android, however, there are less restrictions,
but an app could be lost in search results due to a lack of quality control.
OR
It depends on which language you are more comfortable with.
For iPhone app you should know objective-C and for Android you should know Java.
Both of them are very good and if you write a good app you can either sell them and make money or make them free and put advertising and make them free. Win
