Marine engineering is a branch of Engineering that deals with nautical architecture and science. The demand for Marine Engineers in public and private shipping companies has risen sharply, with the increase in international global sea traffic. BE in Marine Engineering / Nautical Science is the basic qualifications to become a Marine Engineer. The minimum educational qualifications for pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering or Nautical science is plus two or equivalent with 60% marks in science subjects such as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Salary is a function of various factors (i) the institute where you have completed your B.Tech + M.Tech. e.g. a graduate from a top institute will command a higher salary. (ii) Your work experience - organization and type of work profile (iii) city - a metropolitan city will have higher salaries as compared to smaller cities and towns. This is a field where nobody cares for your qualification, they only see if you can do quality work. In fact, the University Model has not succeeded in any Skill field across the world. A good mentor and wise selection of courses with a good school, followed by diligent learning, would get you a head start in your career. However, you must check your suitability for this field. Animation is an art form and a very demanding career. It has ample opportunities for the creatively talented people. Opportunities lie in UI Design, Graphic Design, Storyboarding, Animation Design, Game Design, 3D Modelling, Texturing and Lighting, Dynamics and VFX and of course animation (2D and 3D). Of course at the top of the pile lies Concept Designing - these people are required by Event Companies, Animation Studios, VFX Studios, and of course Game Studios. However, choosing between these must be done after seeing your performance in each of these. So going for a generic course covering all or most of these would be the best way to get started in these careers. Typically you should have good sketching skills to be able to make a sound career in this (if you work hard you can improve your drawing skills tremendously). With a B.Sc in Chemistry under your belt you could consider options ranging from Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical research and IT to management, Media, Academics, Social Work and Law, to name a few. Any of the choices listed above will require a post graduate degree in that area like a M Sc for Biotech, an MBA for Management or a Mass Comm. degree for Media.
