Microbiology is the study of microscopic organisms. These organisms include algae, bacteria, moulds, protozoa, viruses and yeasts. They are sometimes called microbes. These cannot be seen without a microscope. Many biologists further specialize in the study of micro-organisms, e.g. the bacteriologists work with bacteria, mycologists with fungi and virologists study viruses.
Students can pursue microbiology at the graduate level after choosing to study Biology at the +2 level. After B.Sc. Microbiology graduates can pursue higher studies like M. Sc in Applied microbiology, Medical microbiology, Food microbiology, Industrial microbiology, Genetics, Biotechnology, Bio-informatics, microbial technology, Clinical Research, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Forensic Sciences, Hospital Management.
Eligibility:
For undergraduate programme, one must be a 12th passed whereas postgraduate programme requires you to have a Bachelor's degree in relevant disciplines.
Career Prospects:
Microbiologists work in hospitals in pathology/cytology laboratories. They undertake microbiological testing of samples from patients as an aid to diagnosing and treating diseases. The pharmaceutical, food, beverage industries, swimming pools, water processing plants, bottling industries and hotels employ microbiologists. In the pharmaceutical industries opportunities exist in the R&D division. Microbiological work includes studying microbes and organisms that cause diseases (in humans, animals as well as plants).

Dear Divyani,
The Admission process usually starts in Mid June and you'll get notification on http://www.jacpcldce.ac.in/mba.asp . So keep on checking it. The first round's notification will be out soon. If you were asking about college session, then it starts in 1st Week of August along with all CMAT accepting colleges in Gujarat (Expect Some). The admission is done by ACPC which is common for all CMAT colleges in Gujarat.
Now the Placement records: 80% of students got placed this year. (Remaining 20% were either not eligible or did not sit in the interview itself). The average Package was 4-4.5 lacks per year with the highest package being more than 6.5 lacks.

The options are unlimited, as you have done your class 12 with science. With the combination of biology, physics and chemistry you can take up medicine, dentistry, Pharmacy, agricultural science, dairy science or biological sciences (biochemistry, biotechnology, Microbiology). Apart from doing the degree level courses in science with the conventional combinations you can also choose degree courses in several emerging professional areas, such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing, computer, business administration, hotel management, tourism management etc. you can also opt for courses outside the university stream, such as hotel management, fashion technology, industrial design, packaging, aircraft maintenance engineering, government accredited computer courses and a host of post 10 + 2 level vocational courses. For pursuing a course in engineering you should have Maths as compulsory subject in 10+2. However, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, Website: www.aiims.ac.in or www.aiims.edu, offers B.Tech (Biotechnology) with Class XII with Physics, Chemistry and Biology. To get admission in the top medical college in India you would need to score above 90% in 12th and do very well in entrance exam.
With a PCM combination of subjects, you can pursue almost any field you set your mind on. You can ofcourse do Engineering which is a professional degree and has streams such as Electrical, Mechanical, Electronic and Communication etc. You can do your graduation in subjects of your interest, even switching to Humanities or Commerce streams if you so desire.
You can do a BCA (Computer Applications), BBA (Business Administration), Law, Civil Aviation – Pilot, Astronomy, Architecture, Design, Mass Communication, Merchant Navy, Defense Forces, Psychology, Civil Services etc. To decide on the course, you should analyse your strengths, career goals, interests, personality, aptitude and ability.
