For the following reasons, NITs are not as famous as IITs:
1. Attention: The IITs usually receive lots of media attention and are treated as a symbol of intelligence among the general public. It is common to see JEE toppers as IITians rather than NITs.
2. Global Ranking: Many top IITs, such as IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi, have been ranked in the top 400 universities in the QS world ranking. This further makes IITs more globally recognised than NITs.
3. Government funding: Since IITs are governed by the central government, there is usually equality in funding and support. This ensures better research and curriculum in IITs compared to NITs,

Two of my favorite quotes basically sum up my interpretation of this:
Lionel Mess said once "It took me 18 years to become an overnight star"
Jon Acuff said once "Don't compare someone else's middle to your beginning". Nobody studies less and gets into an Indian Institute of Technology-they've been studying for longer than they even knew they were. Indian Institute of Technology is definitely one of the most difficult exams to crack. If you start from day 1, things would not be so stressful for you and you can crack the exam. If you wait until last month, things get pretty complicated and stressful. So if you start your studying from day

To be considered for the final CDS cutoff, you must score passing marks of at least 20% on each paper individually. There are generally three papers, except for OTA appearing candidates; for them there are only two papers. Each of the three papers consists of a total of 100 marks, so it means that you need to score 20 marks on each paper. Apart from that, there is a service-wise cut off, such as a separate cut off for IMA, INA, AFA, and OTA. This varies each year, and you can check the previous year's cut off on this page of Shiksha https://www.shiksha.com/exams/cds-exam-cutoff.
