It depends on what you want to do in Java. Java is a vast domain and has many area's in it.
Core Java which is learning about basics of Java language and is used widely in developing desktop apps, game and embedded systems. Learning core Java might take 2 to 3 weeks , if you put 6 to 8 hours of efforts
J2EE is used to develop the enterprise applications. Basics of this starts from learning JSP, Servlets and should end up with learning an MVC based framework like Structs2 or Spring. Learning J2EE might take 4 to 6 weeks , if you put 6 to 8 hours of efforts
