The National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) and MBBS are two options available to you after earning a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT), but both require fulfilling certain eligibility requirements.

In nations like the United States or Canada, you must first finish an accredited nursing program, such as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), to sit for the NCLEX and obtain a nursing license. To sit for the NCLEX, one must have more than a DMLT qualification. Your experience in medical laboratory technology, however, can provide you with a basic grasp of healthcare, which could be useful in a nursing degree. Enrolling in a nursing education and meeting the licensure requirements of the nation in which you intend to practise are prerequisites for taking the NCLEX.

You can apply for MBBS if you fulfil the prerequisites, which include passing the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) in India or comparable entrance tests in other nations. After passing the admission exam, you must begin your studies in the first year of MBBS; a DMLT Diploma does not grant lateral access. The MBBS curriculum is more demanding and extensive, with a focus on clinical medicine, diagnostics, and patient care, even though your DMLT background familiarises you with medical and diagnostic principles.
