Hi,
I have just answered a similar query to you. Well for this one, to be eligible for various posts in Civil Services India, exams are conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) every year, for the same one needs to be:
*An Indian National Citizen
*A graduate in any discipline from a recognized university and
*Between the age limit of 21 to 30 years.

Well, I would say not to worry if you do not wish to go for coaching, you can still think of going ahead provided you spend quality time everyday by reading journals, magazines, newspapers, etc. For the study material I would suggest you to either contact the nearby book stores. As far as preparing on GK is concerned, you can refer Competition Success Review for updates on current affairs.
