PhD from any University is min 3 years program. PhD is research oriented program and with most of universities it does not require regular classes. You can do PhD from Home but you will need to submit synopsis, and research papers time to time, attend viva, seminars, presentations. You can always take a break and continue later. More than 70% people who complete the program take 5 years or more
