Well it depends on your interest and career focus. If you are keen to get in the field of IT and computers then definitely getting a more focused career course would be any day a better option i.e. going for a computer engineering would suit.
But if you are looking for an engineering field which parts its focus in different careers including Telecoms, Electronics, and IT then going for the EC specialization in Engineering would be a good options.
Neither of the two has any disadvantages, all of it depends on your area of interest and your career objectives.

You have an option. First you find a job in related sector and alongwith this you can do 2 years master of tourism studies from IGNOU in distance mode
Although the course in distance mode, IGNOU's programme delivery module contains face to face counselling, Audio Video conferencing, assignment and project. If you just want a degree, you can do BCA (If you are good in logic and interested towards accounts and if your Diploma is of 3 years after SSC) from Madurai Kamraj University. You will get lateral entry into 2nd year here. If you want to plan do engineering degree, same you can do through IGNOU, YCMOU IETE and AMIE
