Scope of BBA programme for science students (Class XII)

Is it a good idea for science stream students (in class 12) to pursue BBA in under-graduation? Are they in a more advantageous or disadvantageous position when compared to commerce students.

Everything has its own advantages and disadvantages. The aftermath depends on how wisely you choose your career options. There is no harm in going for BBA after the completion of 12th from science stream, as it is a provision for those who have different taste regarding their career aspect and compared to commerce students yes, science student have a disadvantage of lack of basics of commerce, but it is just a matter of initial stage after that you will be absolutely comfortable with that thing.

This century offers everyone a micro specialisation of his or her choice. It is for the student to take a firm stand as to which course interests him or her and plan the education accordingly. Better arrive at such a decision before taking admission in 12th standard. Take advice from elders and professionals to map your talents (both known and hidden) and to chart out your educational career path. This advice is applicable for all those who are studying in 10th standard.

You must opt for BBA as till 12th you have studied science. Basic knowledge of science is important, but now as professional growth is required in the coming years, you should opt for BBA. Thereafter, opt for PGDM.
So accordingly plan your future and opt for a management program as this is one of the lucrative professional programs which will get you good salary and profile in a company.

BBA course helps in all sectors. It is one of the best courses in business administration for all platforms, even for science students, but if you want to make you career in the science field, then you should opt for engineering, MBBS, B.Sc in IT, B.Pharma, etc.

BBA is not that rigorous as a course and a 12th science student isn't going to get any extra mileage except in courses like quantitative methods and operations management.

BBA (Bachelor Of Business Administration) is the best business management course which creates a good opportunity even for students with the science background to get in touch with the business activities and studies.
Being a science student this will not affect your BBA career anywhere. BBA is a platform for students who are interested in learning about the business activity. It includes subjects like financial management, economics, principles of management which are the basics of business and hence standard increases as per the years of graduation. This course also needs the skill of presenting yourself, speaking and communication ab

BBA syllabus has no focus in most of the universities than a graduate course. It lacks a smooth vertical integration with a pragmatic MBA syllabii of any of the reputed Institutes. And this itself gives not much preference for BBAs over students from other streams when it comes to admission to MBA of highly accredited institutions. This downward integration of syllabus to BBA and plus 2 level is needed by the University/education department to make it a stand alone stream/make it a preferred choice.

See, as per me I guess it depends on the admission criteria and the student's interest and capability. If you want to go for BBA then yes this is also a nice professional course which will give you good career option, you can be appointed on executive level if you go for any job after completing BBA. But I would suggest you to go for MBA from good institute rather than choosing the job after BBA.
But at the end, I would again say its up to your choice and interest.
    So decide wisely. :)

Anybody who wants to take MBA as a serious course to study should have a good understanding of mathematics. That apart, BBA syllabus in most of the universities are not rigorous as B.Com in understanding business and its various facets, unless a serious review of BBA syllabus is undertaken by the authorities. This is my sincere opinion after working many years in the academic sector.

It depends upon one's interest. There will not be any change if students choose commerce related courses.

If a science student is looking for a career in BBA and management, what is the fear? It is okay and many do that. BBA is one of the good management courses for all streams and for science students, it creates a great level of interest to involve in business activities and studies. This course of study includes subjects like economics, financial management, basics of business, etc. This course also will enhance presentation skills, communication skills and more. Within 3 years of course study you will develop your overall personality.
Go ahead. It has a good scope.

It is better for a science student to pursue B.Sc with mathematics as subsidiary or main. Then, he/she can join a MBA course.

If you think that your aptitude matches to the management study only then BBA would be a good choice for you. Also, any day a science student has more advantage over a commerce student because BBA requires maths as well, so being a science student, your understanding of maths would be better than of a commerce student.
If you choose BBA, then make sure you do it from a reputed college as only a handful of colleges / institutes offer the quality course. Some of the best institutes for pursuing BBA are UPES, Dehradun; Christ University, Bangalore; Delhi University and St. Xavier's College, Mumbai.
