What are CAT, MAT and XAT exams for?

CAT is especially to get admissions in IIMs, but also used for other MBA colleges too. CAT is conducted by IIMs. MAT is an MBA entrance examination for almost all MBA colleges, which is conducted by AIMA. XAT is to get admission into Xavier’s Institute of Management of different locations and it is also some of the other MBA colleges.

These are MBA entrance exams. CAT (Common Aptitude Test) is national-level management entrance test conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (Iims) and also, CAT score is accepted by other MBA colleges. MAT (Management Aptitude Test) is conducted by AIMA (All India Management Association) and XAT is to get admission into Xavier group. Also, some other colleges also consider XAT score as well.

For getting admission for MBA programme in IIMS and top B Schools, you need to be a graduate with 50% marks and above.

These are MBA entrance tests. Each MBA institute allots admissions based on a particular test score. CAT is the most common admission test.

CAT (Common Admission Test) is conducted by the 13 Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) for admission to their management programs. CAT scores are used by more than 3000 MBA colleges. Management Aptitude Test MAT is a standardized test being administered to facilitate Business Schools (B-Schools) to screen candidates for admission to MBA and allied programmes. Around 630 B-schools consider the MAT scores. MAT is commissioned four times in a year (February, May, September, December), whereas CAT is an annual Exam. XAT or Xavier Aptitude Test is the entrance exam organized by Xavier Labor Relation Institute (XLRI), Jamshedpur on the behalf of Xavier Association of Management Institutes (XAMI). XAT 2019 will be conducted in January 2019. The exam duration is 3 hours from 10 AM to 1:35 PM. The Mode for XAT Exam is Online. CAT The core sections of CAT examination include Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation, Quantitative Aptitude, and Verbal Ability. The exam is for 140 minutes, with 70 minutes to answer 30 questions within each section. MAT Conducted four times in a year, MAT has five sections - Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning, and Indian and Global Environment. A total of 200 questions (40 in each section) have to be attempted in 150 minutes. XAT The core sections are Decision Making, Verbal and Logical Ability, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, and Essay & General Awareness. The exam duration is 2 hours 40 minutes.
