    Hi,
Since, you belong to Science stream but preferring Civil Services, So, I would recommend you to go for BA Hons History from any reputed university across India, since I am also a History graduate from University of Delhi, but not aspiring for Civil Services. Taking History will be very helpful, though you can take political Science as well. Other than this, It came to my mind, that a possible question can arise to you that being a Science student, Going arts will be inconvenient, I am sure it will be, but the fact is, For IAS, History is must, because if you won't take it in your main subject, the general studies aspect has History

For IAS, Bachelor of Arts is a good platform as it contains the topics asked in the IAS exam.

BA Course would be better to pursue rather than B.Sc or B.Tech because the subjects taught in BA will help you in preparing for the IAS exam.

    Hello Dear Vishal,
Answering your query, make yourself throw into a deep thought of pursuing IAS. My suggestion is that until and unless, you are hardly dedicated to crack an IAS exam. I suggest you not to take BA it has let you leave very few options in your further career. (I suggest go for B.Sc. Or B.Tech in this case) But if you are hardly dedicated to crack IAS exam. Then, go for BA as BA offers you good foundation in History and others.
    Take decision accordingly.
    I hope this helps.

After the completion of class 12th, if you are interested in going for IAS then it's better to prefer Bachelor of Arts because you will get know the basics here and for the coaching, you have to go for reference books in Arts which will be helpful for you.

Basically, BA is good for IAS preparation, and also give a touch for B.Sc Maths and Science, so that you may be perfect. And, also go for GK questions and others.

If your inclination is towards IAS, you should pursue your graduation in BA as its syllabus includes major subjects like History, Geography, Economics, Politics, etc. It will be very helpful for you while preparing for IAS. So think wisely before you choose.
