For preparation better would be that you join coaching as civil service Examinations are quite a tough nut to crack. There are two stages in civil Service Exams:
Preliminary: A the Exam pattern is changing now instead of subject Knowledge you have to focus more on areas like decision making skills, logical and analytical abilities and the knowledge in the services in which you want to pursue your career i.e. IPS or IAS or IFS etc. Since the preliminary exam is an elimination round the candidate should also learn to focus only on the information needed and filter out the rest.
