Also, the sample paper those are available online are for reference purpose only, to give you an idea about the exam pattern. Of course yes. You are eligible for lateral admission directly in 2nd year of engineering. But some states give admission based on marks of Diploma but some states give admission based on entrance test.

Admission will be based on percentage in class 12th (PCM) and score in entrance exams such as NATA or JEE Main.
