U should visit the official website of JEE and check the the counseling schedule there. There are very less chances of getting admission in certain top level institutes/colleges. As ur score in 12th is very good u should try in some of the private colleges/institute which provide better education and placement services like Lovely Professional university, VIT pune, Sona College of Engg.

On the basis of ur rank in the JEE main there are much chances of getting admission in the top IIT's, NIT's. Keep a watch on the counseling schedule. As u belong to Goa u can also try at Goa Engineering college. But apart from that if ur 12 th score is good u can get good scholarship and also try at the best colleges/institutes in India like Annamalai University, Lovely Professional University, Manipal Institute of Technology.

U can opt for B Tech. (CSE) or B Tech. ( IT) as u are interested in only computers. Certain universities/institutes also conduct their national level test for the admission and on the basis of ur performance in the test as well as in the marks of ur qualifying exam u can get good scholarship and best placements. Anish with this much rank you can get admissions into some NITS chemical branch but not in the top NITs. You can get the NITs of the Eastern side like Agartala,Sikkim etc. and that too in the later rounds of the counselling. If you are comfortable with any NIT then be happy because you can surely get one with chemical branch.

In appearing the national Eligibility test only the % of masters is considered if u are getting 55% marks in masters u are eligible for appearing in the NET. The NET is conducted twice in a year in the month of june and dec every year. The best method of preparation is the thorough study of the books of master and solve the previous year examinations. This will help lot in cracking the net.
