There are several short term software courses which you may prefer after B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering. Although it is not necessary for Electronics and Communication Engineer to do any software related course to get a job since his B.Tech degree is enough to get him decent job.
For example, Infosys, the leading Information Technology company in India has the neck to hire more Electronics and Communication Engineers than any other company. Other companies like TCS also do not require any other software course apart from ECE. This is one main reason I would suggest that even if you are interested in computer course, go for a short term course.
Due to rising competition in Information Technology sector, sometimes it gets hard to find a job. However I don't think any Electronics and Communication Engineer with good percentage would find it difficult to get job in IT sector. Still a short term course related to software would not harm.
