With the new format of prelim, candidates answer two objective type papers which are the general studies paper and the General Aptitude Paper instead of General studies and optional subject which means there is no optional subject paper in preliminary Examination.

Eligibility
To apply for the course a candidate must be graduate with 50% marks.
Admission Procedure
Admissions to all the courses in Jamia Millia Islamia are held annually. Candidates seeking admission to any course are required to submit the prescribed Application Form which may be obtained from the University on payment of the prescribed fees, or it may be downloaded from this website and submitted along with the fees as mentioned in the Prospectus. Only original downloaded Forms should be submitted along with the prescribed fee. The candidates are required to go through an Entrance Test which is followed by an Interview and, in some specific courses, a Group Discussion is also held

Fashion designing is a field where your own creative skills speak for yourself. If a person has a natural flair in designing apparels or jewelery or as a matter of fact anything, then the education is just a method of honing up and fine tuning the skills. So it can be done through distance education provided you have substantial opportunities available aroud you to exhibit your skills at the right moment infront of the right people. When you are taking this education formally form a college you have teachers and the institute adminstration providing you the platform to exhibit your skills (through projects & participation in shows). This might not be there if you take distance education. So if you can search / develop and have opportunities to exhibit your talent simultaneous to your distance education then you may go for a correspondance course in fashion designing. Otherwise & preferably join a regular course.
