First of all get a fair idea of the syllabus that CAT covers and go through the theory once at the same time solve problems as well. Once you have covered the basics, start solving problems and make sure you design your schedule of solving problems in such a way that you cover entire course. Once you have covered substantial portion of the syllabus, start taking tests in a controlled environment. Make sure to take around 20 tests before taking actual CAT. Also make sure to reflect on the performance of the tests and identify areas of improvement and improve.

Hi Arun,
You seem to be in class XIth. CPT is not a tough exam, reason being optional basis and not theoretical QA. You should start with the modules provided by the institute and read them once with some good pace, then use the CD of mock tests. Follow this method again and again and you will realize your level of understanding. This can be summarized as hit and trial method, which is always good for optional exams. Many benefits such as revision, mock test and analysis of current situation.
Cheers and hope for the best.
