Astrobiology is an interesting, subject unfortunately scope is limited. There are hardly any research work done in this area except minimal research work Indian Astrobiology Research Centre (IARC). You my research on its scope and courses outside but I doubt there is growth.

BE or B.Tech is one of the same term i.e. engineering degree and according to me, you should plan for it in regular mode through that, you can take advice from your faculty or mentor and can meet the companies in seminar. Although, colleges having regular interaction with companies will help you to understand the working style and what is going on in job market.
