Genetic engineering is a branch dealing with genomes. It requires biological knowledge and also understanding of the basic statistical science. No engineering degree has purely one science discipline. It's an interesting field.

As your background is of science, it is better to opt for Bachelor's degree in any science subject or B.Tech to get specialised in any stream like Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Civil or any other. B.Tech is more of an application based whereas Bachelors in science will be more theoretical and research based. If you are looking for a good job then B.Tech is a better option.
