If you are keen to pursue a career as pilot this may differ in few forms like whether you plan to pursue a career as a Pilot in IAF, Commercial Pilot, Helicopter Pilot. The minimum eligibility to pursue either is 12th pass from science stream however, the training may differ and include several different topics.

NTPC conducts and exam which consist of two papers - Aptitude & Technical.
While in the first part is in general and relates a lot to aspects Synonyms/ Antonyms/ Comprehension/ Fill in Sentences etc.
The technical paper includes questions from 6 disciplines - Electrical, mechanical, Civil, Control and Instrumentation, HR and Finance.
The total duration of the paper is of 2 hours and there are about 90 questions(55 in technical and 35 in aptitude), with about 1/4negative marking for every wrong answer.
There is no set steps involved to prepare with the 100 % success in the exams, all one can suggest is to refer to good books and try
