Civil service exams are conducted by the UPSC and your performance will entirely depend on your area of interest, hard work and concentration. It would not be possible to evaluate your potential as you would be the best person to decide and would know about your strength and weaknesses the best and can work accordingly.
As for the exam is concerned, which are conducted in two phases: Preliminary test (CSAT) and Main Written Test.
CSAT: It is an Objective type examination consisting of Two Papers that is common to all candidates from 2011 having special emphasis on testing their aptitude for civil services as well as on general knowledge.
Main Exam.: Those who qualify the CSAT exam are shortlisted for the Main exam. It is a descriptive (essay type) examination. The General Studies, Essay paper, English Paper are common to all candidates and with this a candidate has two optional subjects to choose from the given options and a language paper of his / her choice. After qualifying the test, shortlisted candidates are called for the interviews and then the final selection takes place.

MCA after BCA is a definite option provided you are keen to pursue a career in the IT/ technical field. As for opting any short term/ professional course is concerned, that shall depend on your interests and can be a good option to be opted along with your work or education as well.

Hi Diya,
NTPC conducts and exam which consist of two papers - Aptitude & Technical.
While in the first part is in general and relates a lot to aspects Synonyms/ Antonyms/ Comprehension/ Fill in Sentences etc.
The technical paper includes questions from 6 disciplines - Electrical, mechanical, Civil, Control and Instrumentation, HR and Finance.
The total duration of the paper is of 2 hours and there are about 90 questions(55 in technical and 35 in aptitude), with about 1/4negative marking for every wrong answer.
There is no set steps involved to prepare with the 100 % success in the exams, all one can suggest is to refer to good books and try to complete your curriculum for the paper. Also you may practice some sample and previous test papers.
