Yes.
The minimum eligibility criteria is that the student should have passed in UG with at least 60%. Completing B.Tech in 5 years may cause problem during PI but if the candidate is able to convince the panel it won't cause problem. Some of the Iims such as IIM Ahmedabad gives more emphasis on academic performance. So for IIM A if the marks in 10th, 12th and Graduation are less, then the candidate might not get a call despite scoring 99.99 percentile. The CAT cutoff for Old IIMs and FMS remains more than 99 percentile for general category. However, it may vary depending upon the academic diversity, gender diversity and work experience.

It depends on the company and the role you're targeting.

  • For top product-based companies (FAANG, Microsoft, etc.), a CGPA of 8.0+ is generally preferred, but strong projects, internships, and coding skills can make up for a slightly lower CGPA.

  • For service-based companies (TCS, Infosys, Wipro, etc.), a minimum CGPA of 6.0-7.0 is usually required to meet eligibility criteria.

  • Startups and mid-sized companies often focus more on skills, problem-solving ability, and projects rather than just CGPA.

Ultimately, while a good CGPA helps, your DSA skills, development experience, and internships matter even more in securing a high-paying package.

No, it is not mandatory to appear for the optional exam. The name suggests it is 'optional'.
You need minimum 5 subjects (including a language). But I'll advise you to appear and write CS exam also. In future, you'll have many fields open for you. It'll prove to be beneficial for you.
Work hard & good luck!

Hello Rakesh! You might face difficulty in getting a call from the old IIMs(due to low academic scores). However, if you score well in CAT(96+ percentile), you might get a call from at least the new IIMs(99+ for the old ones). So focus on getting a great score in CAT. All the best!

ACCA is very well respected across the globe and in India too. Now regarding your question on salary depends on which kind of organization you would be targeting. If you are targeting MNCs you may get a good or even better salary than a CA would get at those same companies. But if the companies are highly local and need practical and working knowledge of Indian industry then they would obviously prefer Indian CAs.
Still if I have to put a number to your answer, if you just qualified and have no experience you can expect to get anywhere between INR 8.0 to INR 12.0 lakhs depending on your other skills.
