Although in general, as the question is in Animation, you may opt for the diploma courses in Animation, Visual Effects, Special effects etc. Also you may opt for the graphic designing/ web designing courses. There are several institutes that are offering these courses and to give more info, please specify your area of interest.

Its not advisable to do correspondence course in Technical field but you can check with BITS Pilani because some of their courses are recognised in industry.

If you wanted to understand which field in Multimedia and Animation is better, then it does depend on your aptitude. Although, Web Designing and Animation are the most creative ones, there do exist opportunities for good modelers, good riggers, good texture and lighting artists, flash programmers, and good GUI designers. Artists with good 2D Animation knowledge and skillset are in very high demand in pre-production as well as training organisations.
