Hi Avantika,
Well definitely preparing for the Bank POs is a good way to begin but yes there can be no defined time period for its preparations. However you can take coaching with the help of some institutes which i dedicated in providing these services.
Another option is to go about preparing for the UPSC, i.e. the premier govt. services, and highly competitive to attain a position.

Presently Karnataka State Open University is offering B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering in distance mode. As the University is a state University recognised by UGC, AIU, DEC. You may consider joining the course as in distance education their is no option except this.

you can take education loan also if you feel some problem in fee. dont choose any college in haste just due to less availbility of money. wish you good luck.
