For pursuing any Masters course in business management be it MBA or PGDM you have to first appear for a national/international level entrance examination like CAT, XAT, GMAT etc.
Excluding the IIMs, for any other institute you have to apply for the institute separately apart from CAT. The institute might conduct an examination of its own or might use your CAT, XAT, GMAT score for offering you admissions.
After the stage of giving an examination every institutes conducts its own screening process of selecting a candidate. The screening processes are different for each institute and include one or more of Group Discussion, written ability test, Case study, psychometric tests (in case of SPJIMR) and of course a personal interview.
